As someone who enjoys creating everyday outfits for every single scenario possible, (grocery shopping, getting coffee, etc.) I mainly get items that are practical to my everyday life. There are so many options to choose from, but which everyday items are actually worth it and last? Keep reading to find out!

“For all the sneaker lovers reading this, this is your sign to get this shoe.”

Converse is a sneaker staple that just never goes out of style. It goes with just about anything, and the Run Star Hike is no different. The chunkier platform helps a petite girl like me have some height so I can’t complain about that. The ridges at the bottom actually make walking easier (as strange as that may sound). Basically, it’s not completely flat so it gives you some kind of balance.

“Because you can never have too many cozy sweaters!”

You can never go wrong with a good crewneck sweater. This Beige Oversized Fleece Sweatshirt from Nike is a closet staple and the fleece inside makes it feel like you’re constantly getting a warm hug. The color also lets you easily pair it with just about anything too.

“Yes, this bag is worth it.”

everyday

This bag has been seen EVERYWHERE. I will admit, when I first saw it I was a bit skeptical. However, as I continued to browse and do my research on the tote I found myself itching to get it myself. Given the fact that I also needed a bag that would be good for holding my laptop and essentials for working at cafes and what not. Now that I have the Marc Jacobs Tote Bag, I literally share and tell everyone that this bag is worth every penny. It has a lot of pockets and it can fit so much inside!

You can get these items directly off of my shopping board.

She has had the opportunity to work with amazing brands such as Kate Spade New York, Coach, Selkie, and many more. Learn more Chazlyn and follow her below!

Q&A with Chazlyn:

Who is your fashion role model?

My fashion role model would probably be @freddy I love her feminine style and her YouTube channel is everything!

What is your favorite brand?

My favorite brand at the moment is @j.ing_official they have the cutest pieces.

How would you describe your style in three words?

I would describe my style as chic, feminine, and unique

What is your dream item that you wish you could add to your closet right now?

A dream item that I wish I could add to my closet right now would have to be a pink feather pajama set from @daily_sleeper

What is one item that you would wear for the rest of your life?

I could wear tweed skirts for the rest of my life! They are so fun to style and are timeless pieces that will never go out of style.

What is your goal as a blogger and/or influencer?

My goal as a blogger/influencer is to bring representation to the feminine and girly aesthetic that we rarely see from POC (people of color) in the media. I love when other girls come to me and say that I’ve inspired them to start a fashion account or start dressing in a certain way! Diversity and inclusion is important and I didn’t always have a fashion icon to look up to that looked like me. I hope to fill this gap and inspire others to join me so that we can diversify the industry more and create a community of like minded individuals!

Winter is around the corner, and we are highlighting some “it” creators to watch our for this winter season. Be sure to follow them for inspiration on all things fashion, beauty and lifestyle!

Sarah Priscilla

“No aesthetic because I am the aesthetic”

Sarah’s Q+A

Who is your fashion role model?

I precisely remember the day when I began to understand fashion. I’ve been “small” “tiny” “slim” “skinny” my entire life. I used to be bullied for having “stick” arms & legs. Even to this day, I struggle with body dysmorphia and I am constantly giving myself grief over things not fitting properly. And then I read a fashion blog column on Victoria Beckham.

What is your favorite brand?

My favorite brand is Hanifa Co., by Founder & Designer, Anifa Mvuemba. We are both Congolese, from the Democratic Republic of Congo. She is brilliant, smart, strong and a true icon in the fashion industry. In 2020, Pink Label Congo debuted via a 3D virtual runway show. Hanifa is credited as being the first to ever do it. This was a groundbreaking moment in fashion because so many shows were cancelled due to the pandemic. Many brands followed in [her] footsteps. I will always support my people but especially those in creative fields like myself. In Miami I bought my first Hanifa piece for my 23rd birthday, right before quarantine began. I will forever cherish that moment.

What is your dream item to add to your wardrobe right now?

Lately, I’ve been into the “model off duty” in athleisure wear look, so my dream is to own a complete Coco Chanel athleisure (tennis) set – the clothes, shoes, accessories, and tennis racket. Chanel is my favorite luxury brand!

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Chic, Detailed & Revolved. Like my instagram feed, I don’t have an aesthetic because I am the aesthetic. I just like fashion + styling so I wear whatever I want, when I want.

What is one item that you would wear for the rest of your life?

Boots. I’m actually obsessed. I’ve been a fan since I was a child. I have many styles of boots but I’ve always wanted moon boots. I’d be perfect for this upcoming winter season.

What is your goal as a blogger and/or influencer?

Oh I love this question. This past summer, I rebranded my instagram header name to read: “Sarah | Inspo For WOC”This initiative [Inspo for Women Of Color] is the catalyst to my journey in the creative industry. You don’t see many girls, who look like me, in many of today’s “trendiest” aesthetics. I mean, you go on pinterest and you see a black girl one every hundredth pin. We all get stacked under one photo category and that’s so unfair because we are DIVERGENT. Obviously, we exist. But then again, do we really? Social media platforms are essentially engineered to shadowban us.

*Bonus – Goal Acheived*

One of my social media friends, Shane, said this about me in a post: “…Sarah I think does an amazing job as a woman of color taking many popular trends and styles today and finding a way to incorporate diversity…she is a prime example for black girls that may want to get into fashion but don’t feel like trends and fashion trends caters to them.” This was a pinch me moment because it means that people understand [my] assignment

Sarah’s Winter Must Haves

Melissa Jay

“Hi i’m Melissa, the founder, creator, and editor of bymelissajay, a blog focusing on fashion, lifestyle and all other things related to the hot mess that is my life. bmj was born in 2020, when at the ripe old age of 24, found myself a little bit creatively stifled by the rabbit hole that is the corporate world.

I won’t claim that this blog is anything groundbreaking, but the goal is just to share outfits and all the other things I like and hopefully it will be either entertaining or helpful to someone, somewhere.”

Melissa’s Q+A

Who is your fashion role model?

I have always loved Hailey Bieber‚Äôs style. I think her style captures the perfect mix of masculine and feminine energy and she keeps everything cool and interesting while maintaining a certain level of timelessness. But I am also inspired by a lot of other people‚ÄîI think @jujhavens style has a really similar vibe and achieves that vibe without shopping exclusively high end.

What is your favorite brand?

Well, I probably shop at Zara more than anywhere else. I genuinely love so much of their stuff, but I feel like now, more than ever, if you have something from Zara half of your friends probably have it too. That being said, in the past couple months, I’ve still probably bought the most things from Zara, Aritzia and Abercrombie- the trilogy for all basic girls in 2021.

What is your dream item to add to your wardrobe right now?

Bottega has so many cool coats right now that I am obsessed with, so probably a trench or some type of coat from them. I also am obsessed with this bag from BY FAR right now, the amber leather shoulder bag.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Neutral, simple, trendy.

What is one item that you would wear for the rest of your life?

A bold choice for the geriatric stage of life but my @songofstyle Bea Boots.

What is your goal as a blogger and/or influencer?

It’s important to note that this isn’t coming from someone who has always been the fashionable friend. For a long time I thought that I wasn’t “cool” enough to be that person. I thought that because I didn’t have the coolest, most expensive clothes that I defaulted to the bottom tier of the fashion pyramid. But I realized after a while the ONLY person telling me I couldn’t “pull something off” or that I just wasn’t fashionable enough was me. So, I guess, the goal is just to get as many people to realize that as possible!

Melissa’s Winter Must Haves

Arianna Baquerizo

“I‚Äôm Arianna, a 23-year-old nanoinfluencer and content creator born in Ecuador, raised in Miami, Florida, and now chasing my dreams in New York City. I currently work full-time in the PR space while working towards my master‚Äôs degree in digital strategy and creating content on Instagram/TikTok on the side. On my page you‚Äôll find all things NYC, elevated casual style inspiration, and a friend (seriously, DMs are always welcome).”

Arianna’s Q+A

Who is your fashion role model?

I‚Äôm incredibly inspired by the young designers and creators in the space, particularly Matilda Djerf and Danielle Guizio. I am obsessed with both their personal style and their remarkable careers. I‚Äôm so excited to see how they continue to grow their brands and conquer the industry.

What is your favorite brand?

I don‚Äôt own anything from it (yet) but I am totally in love with every single thing Jacquemus creates. I love color and texture, and they do it in the most fun and exciting way. They are luxury, yet feel attainable and down-to-earth, which I really admire.

What is your dream item to add to your wardrobe right now?

This is almost an impossible question. Because it‚Äôs winter and I have cute 70s fluffy coat envy, I would kill for a Charlotte Simone coat right now.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Approachable, trend-driven, elevated casual.

What is one item that you would wear for the rest of your life?

I can’t choose just one so I’m going with an outfit: A good oversized blazer/trouser set with a bralette and chunky sneakers + gold jewelry.

What is your goal as a blogger and/or influencer?

Work Goal

One of my major goals is to continue to develop and discover my personal style while collaborating with amazing brands I love. It’s been so rewarding for me to see my growth as a creator the past 5+ years and the brands I’ve been able to create for.

Personal Goal

The most important goal, however, is to continue to connect with the people that are following my journey and to inspire them through shared experiences. There’s nothing that makes me happier than when an 18 year old girl from my alma mater messages me saying that they are studying what I studied and want to move to NYC one day too.

Tiffany Guanuna

Meet Tiffany, she encompasses topics on accessible beauty, fashion, home decor and travel tips through curated content and strategic story telling. Creating a destination for young women to reach a more empowered and confident self in their goals and aspirations; while maintaining the tools for a keen fashion and beauty sense.

Tiffany’s Q+A

Who is your fashion role model?

I can definitely say that Hailey Bieber is my fashion role model. I‚Äôve always admired how she turn a pair of sweatpants into a whole new look by simply styling it with a blazer or throwing on some heels bringing a whole new definition to sweatpants. Haha I have a whole saved folder on my Instagram of just #OOTD inspirations from Hailey, of course!

What is your favorite brand?

Zara, is definitely my number 1 brand from their marketing strategies to overall pieces. I love how no matter how many different Zara stores you enter in one day you won‚Äôt always run into the same pieces which makes my shopping experience that much more interesting. Although, most of my generation shops online I am definitely a bit more old schooled and love that in-person experience and that‚Äôs why I love Zara for all my go-to‚Äôs.

What is your dream item to add to your wardrobe right now?

I would love to add the Dior saddle bag to my closet as I love how easy it is to style in many different ways.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Simple, Trendy, and Edgy. I would say it’s so hard to describe my style in 3 words, because honestly, I am constantly changing up my outfits from causal to streetwear to chic and just about anything depending on my mood for the day.

What is one item that you would wear for the rest of your life?

BLAZER! Blazers have always been a staple in my closet ever since I could remember. My favorite thing about blazers is just how easy they are to style up or down. For example, you could easily style it for the office, a day at school, running errands, date night, brunch, or simply just for an everyday look.

What is your goal as a blogger and/or influencer?

My biggest goal as an influencer is to help young women like myself feel more empowered and confident in their goals and aspirations. I love sharing my real-life moments from the highlights of my life to the not so glamorous days that life brings us only because, life isn’t perfect, and I want my girls to understand this by creating a safe space for us all.

Tiffany’s Winter Must Haves

Crystal 𝐍𝐠𝐮𝐲𝐞𝐧

“Hi! I‚Äôm Crystal ‚Äî I‚Äôm a fashion, lifestyle, + beauty content creator from Houston, TX. Outside of being an influencer, I actually have a full-time job working in Social Media as a Digital Content Coordinator as well. So it‚Äôs the best of both worlds! My IG, serves as a platform to express my love for curating outfits, trying new beauty products, traveling, and as an overall outlet to creatively share my passions and life with my followers. When I‚Äôm not creating content or working, I‚Äôm usually cuddling with my two pups and hanging out with my loved ones. Or finding a new blazer to add to my collection!”

Crystal’s Q+A

Who is your fashion role model?

I have plenty of fashion role models, but one of my recents favs these days would definitely have to be @ellenvlora! Her aesthetic and creativity is out of this world. She‚Äôs trendy, bold, and so versatile! She offers perspectives that people don‚Äôt usually think from, which I LOVE.

What is your favorite brand?

Hm, I have a lot of brands I love and shop from! In terms of fashion, I’m a huge Aritzia girl. Their basics are amazing, but I’m also very big on blazers year round. So they have my heart (and money) for sure for staple pieces. But in regards to beauty, I love Summer Fridays! Their aesthetics, branding, and products are amazing! Their Jetlag mask and lip balms are both must-haves.

What is your dream item to add to your wardrobe right now?

A dream item I‚Äôd love to add to my closet and that I‚Äôve been eyeing are the platform Prada loafers ‚Äî they‚Äôre SO cute and staple. I feel like they would never go out of style!

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Versatile. Chic. Experimental.

What is one item that you would wear for the rest of your life?

A blazer, a blazer, and a blazer. For sure, a blazer. They’re just so versatile! And if you didn’t hear me the first time, a blazer, hehe.

What is your goal as a blogger and/or influencer?

My goal as a content creator/influencer is just to keep growing. Within myself and my community. I‚Äôd love to reflect on how my style/aesthetic has changed over the years and on the friends I‚Äôve grown to make in this online community.

Growing your Instagram following isn’t as easy in 2021. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not impossible. It takes a combination of good content, consistency, and social media strategy to grow a loyal and large following. Social media is the ultimate medium to reaching your desired target audience. There are more than one billion active users on social media platforms. And over 38% are checking their social media accounts multiple times a day. With the right strategy, you can grow your Instagram account to reach your goal.

The Chirpyest team has curated a list of 5 Tips to grow your Instagram account!

1. Find Your Target Audience

Who is the audience you are trying to reach? As soon as you find your target audience, then you can create a strategy. Figure out what kind of people will be interested in your content. Find accounts that you love and see who is following them!

How to Find Your Target Audience?

Research similar accounts and competitors. See which accounts are interacting with their content.

2. Create Consistent Content

Design a posting schedule to follow every week. Figure out what cadence works for your account. After researching, we discovered that a minimum of three IG feed posts and 2 reels per week have increased our Instagram account’s overall reach.

Things to Remember while creating content:

What’s your hook?
Does your content convey emotion? Funny, Happy, Sad, etc.
Does your content have a hero product/item?
Is your content relatable, inspirational, motivational, and/or educational?

3. Engage!

Interact with your audience, authentically. Show off your personality, show emotion, share a personal experience, etc. Your audience loves to hear from you! Don’t be afraid to connect with them.

4. Pay Attention to New Updates and Features

Social media platforms will prioritize their newest updates. Take advantage by creating specific content for those features. (Reels, IGTV, TikTok, and more).

5. Develop a Hashtag Strategy

Hashtags have become a more complex marketing tool. Posting hashtags like #food or #fashion don’t have an effective reach anymore. Find hashtags within your niche that have under 1 million uses. In fact, have 20-30 hashtags that are within your niche and/or target the audience you are trying to reach. The right hashtag strategy will maximize the number of people reached and target your desired audience for your account/business.

Types of Hashtags: Community Hashtags, Branded Hashtags, Trending Hashtags, & Niche Hashtags

Meet Alexis Calcavecchia

Our first Chirpyest Spotlight features Alexis Calcavecchia, known as @styleinthenow on Instagram. She is a New York based blogger whose mission is to help others discover their own personal style by providing style tips, inspiration, and fashion interviews. Through her influence, Alexis highlights luxury brands and small businesses that are making a big impact in the fashion world.

Q&A with Alexis:

Who is your fashion role model?

I adore Elizabeth Sulcer and Olivia Culpo’s eye for style. They are both an amazing source of fashion inspiration. I always put my personal twist on looks that inspire me. I think it’s important for everyone to identify their own unique style!

What is your favorite brand?

Ahh! So hard to choose, there are so many brands that I love. A few of my favorites are ARCINA ORI, Jacquemus and Cult Gaia.

How would you describe your style in three words?

I would describe my style as, feminine, effortless, and timeless.

What is your dream item that you wish you could add to your closet right now?

A dream item that I would love to add to my closet right now is the Bottega Veneta Cassette chain-trim shoulder bag in white. I chose this piece because it’s the perfect color for Spring and Summer, it’s incredibly versatile, and can be paired with a casual or dressy look. It adds just the right amount of luxe! I can see myself using it as an everyday bag.

What is one item that you would wear for the rest of your life?

One item that I would wear for the rest of my life are Saint Laurent’s cat-eye frame tinted sunglasses. These glasses are bold, but they’re effortless and timeless.

What is your goal as a blogger and/or influencer?

My goal as a style blogger is to create a platform where like-minded individuals can find fashion inspiration, and outfit ideas that ultimately lead them to discover their own personal style. I aim to create an environment where we can have conversations, not only related to fashion, but other aspects of life including mindset, and health. I believe life is all about experiences, and the relationship you have with yourself and others. On the blog, you will also find interviews with fashion brands, and people in the industry who are making a difference focusing on luxury fashion, styling and more!
